During the COVID-19 pandemic, companies that have postponed and turned physical events into online or working from home are no longer new to some industries. One of them is video game. Since the delay of E3 2020, The Tokyo Game Show, BlizzCon, and many more, several events have also been delayed. One of them is Gamescom Asia, which is planned to be held this year.
The organizer, Koelnmesse announced that one of the greatest video game events in the planet planned to be held in Asia was finally postponed. They did it because the COVID-19 pandemic was getting worse. Making the event forced to be held next year on October 14-17 2021. Still on the same vanue at the Suntec Convention & Exhibition Center, Singapore.

Matthias Kuepper, Managing Director of Koelnmesse explained that they want to prioritize good health for visitors, participants, and their staff. They have discussed it with shareholders, partners, and the Singapore government to decide what they should do to maintain the safety of the participants.
“We feel that providing the full experience of international events to the regional gaming community is the most important thing for us. Therefore, we postponed it until 2021.”
Gamescom Asia is the first satellite event from Gamescom that targets the quickly developing gaming market, which is Southeast Asia region. Not yet known what is “digital interaction” that they will hold later looks like.
