Far Cry 6 Release Date and Synopsis

Last week, Giancarlo Esposito, an actor known for his role in Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian claimed that he was involved in a major video game project. It is not known what game is meant, but shortly after the claim was spread, information that Ubisoft will announce the Far Cry 6 game was circulating, making netizens immediately think if it was the game in question. Not long after, the rumor was confirmed.

Far Cry 6 will certainly be present at Ubisoft Forward Live Stream on 12 July. But like other Ubisoft upcoming games, the leak came earlier before the original announcement. You can watch the livestream here :

According to a leak from the Playstation Store in Hong Kong, Far Cry 6 will be released on February 18, 2021 and will get a free upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X when “available” later, which indicates that the game might be released earlier for the current generation console and will later follow for next-gen. Far Cry 6 is said to be Far Cry with the widest open-world today with more varied areas ranging from beaches, cities, forests, and others.

Not only the release date, a little synopsis of the story of the sixth main series was also leaked. Here’s a brief synopsis from the same page :

“Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.

Play as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran become a guirella fighter to liberate the nation.

Fight againts Anton’s trops in the largest Far Cry playground to date across jungles, beaches, and Esperanza the capital city of Yara.

Employ makeshift weapons, vehicles, and Amigos, the new Fangs for Hire to burn the tyrannical regime to the ground.”

Looking at the synopsis above, it seems Ubisoft returned to the Far Cry formula before the fifth game. You will play the protagonist named and not a custom character, and focus the game back on the liberation of an area. It doesn’t seem to be an option to play as a female protagonist this time, but we’ll see the details later.
