The tweet also reveals that the team has moved away from developing the co-operative shooter on the Diesel 2.0 engine and now uses the Unreal Engine.
Starbreeze said in its financial report :
“The company currently lacks sufficient safe funds to continue operating for the next 12 months, and a liquidity shortage is expected before mid-2019 if no additional funds are provided.”
Starbreeze has been having a hard time for some time, in 2018 the Overkill The Walking Dead project was canceled and withdrawn from Steam following disappointing sales and the loss of support from Skybound Entertainment. The studio underwent reconstruction in December 2018 in an attempt to recover and continue to struggle.
