Throughout 2016 and 2017 the mobile gaming industry was dominated by RPG and MOBA games. Since the end of 2017 until the beginning of 2018, games that have a battle royale genre have started to appear for mobile devices and get positive responses among gamers.
Just mention the big titles of the Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite which also joined into the mobile gaming market which is quite tempting. So, what battle royale games can you play on a smartphone right now ? Let’s find out …
1. PUBG Mobile
Initially, PUBG Mobile had two versions released by Tencent in China. That is made by Timi, the other one is made by Lightspeed and Quantum. Quite popular in China, PUBG that made by Lightspeed and Quantum finally got the English version and was officially released globally on March 19th.
PUBG Mobile has the same gameplay mechanism as the PC version. The players will be dropped from the plane, and descended using a parachute to an island. After descending, the players are required to look for equipment and weapons to survive. Of course the safe area will shrink to determine who the winner is.
2. Rules of Survival
Not only Tencent who is quite “crazy” to offer games that have a battle royale genre. Their rival, NetEase also released various battle royale games at once, one of them is the Rules of Survival which is quite loved in Asia.
Generally, Rules of Survival offers a battle-royale mode with a concept similar to Playerunknwon’s Battlegrounds. In addition, Rules of Survival comes with additional customization features and a squad of up to five people. Players can also descend in the same parachute to gather in the battle arena to be more solid.
Really present as a tight competitor to Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds which has also been released for mobile devices with the English version. Fortnite also spread its wings to mobile devices that have slid on iOS.
In the mobile version of Fortnite it offers similar quality PC and console versions. Not a downgrade version. It’s just adapted for mobile devices, like UI and controls. Starting from 100 player gameplay, the quality of graphics, map island, and weekly updates still remain the same and there is no difference. Even more cool, you can also play cross-play with players from the PlayStation 4 platform and PC in one arena.
4. Knives Out
Knives Out has gained popularity in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam and Asian countries such as China. Interestingly, Knives Out has reached 200 million downloads worldwide.
Knives Out offers a battle-royale mode with a concept similar to Playerunknwon’s Battlegrounds. But Knives Out comes with additional customization features and a squad of up to five people. Players can also descend in the same parachute to gather in the battle arena to be more solid.
FortCraft take three game elements that may be familiar to you, such as PUBG, Fortnite, and also Minecraft. Players will be given the freedom to build a fort on a 4×4 km map and explore the various materials available to be the last to survive.
On the other hand, players can also search for various weapons throughout the map. Not just making, the players are also provided with several objects or buildings that are ready to complete the existing buildings. Various other components, such as debuff to trap are also provided.
That’s the fifth best battle royale game. Despite having a concept that is not too different, the five games have their own uniqueness. So, gamers have many choices according to taste.
